Spectator 4.0 is the fourth edition as part of a yearly series of an online magazine produced by the students of IoBM's "Magazine Production" course for students of media sciences, under the supervision of an expert journalist of the field as the Instructor.

 

While it is an academic exercise, the standards maintained are competitive, matching up to high-quality journalistic writing and reporting, both in terms of the quality and the substance of the content and design elements.

A group of 26 students with diverse talents and fortes is presenting this periodical for you to read with the aim of providing the reader with gripping stories. This magazine is a denouement of a course that allows students to probe and research for stories not just around the campus but in the width and length of the megacity Karachi. The experiential knowledge students of this course gain help them in varied fields pertaining to the media and journalistic arenas.

 

Spectator 4.0 guarantees you stories an array of that are worth sharing. Ranging from listicles that provide a quick, interesting read to long-form features that shed light on issues that matter, the idea is to put forward thought-provoking stories that are riveting and divergent at the same time. The Photo Essays narrate stories through the camera lens where photographs were chosen that speak a thousand words. The stories vary from entertainment and current affairs to social development issues that we feel can contribute towards constructive perusal.

 

The course has been designed in a way so as to promote teamwork among students, giving them the feel of an actual magazine's editorial board, and pushing their boundaries by working with different colleagues in rotation. The students are split into three major groups for the division of work for the final product - Editorial, Marketing, and Design.
