The city of lights is also known for its street crimes. Karachiites are familiar with mobile snatching, robberies and terrorist attacks, yet for resilient dwellers of this megacity, life goes on.

Following are some ways to avoid such mishaps:

Avoid crowded places

In Karachi, terrorist incidents such as bomb blasts were a matter of routine once; however, things are improving. But to be on the safe side, avoid crowded places especially during weekends. Not only for protection from mishaps, but also to secure yourself from getting mobbed or losing something valuable.

Avoid getting your mobiles snatched

Mobile snatching is a common crime in Karachi. The rise of new technology has led to an increase in prices, hence smartphones are usually expensive. To avoid facing trouble there are two options (1) Buy a comparatively cheaper phone for emergency situations (2) Just don’t carry a phone it is not necessary to have it with you 24/7.

Share your Careem/Uber rides

Using private transport services, the likes of Uber and Careem make life easy; however no one should be trusted blindly. It is always better to be safe than sorry; we should keep our friends or family informed before travelling alone by sharing the details of the ride with them. Meanwhile, be your own guide and access maps on your phone to navigate and protect yourself.

Keep a keen eye around whenever you’re driving

Be alert at all times. Anyone could be following you, always be on the lookout and change the route if necessary. It will help you avoid all sorts of security breaches.
